2 Months Old!

- Stronger every day. Holding his head up pretty consistently but occasionally he suddenly becomes a bobble-head again. He's very good at head-butting while being burped. He kicks constantly and will even stand up for short bursts (with us holding his torso of course).

- Still working on arm/hand control. He still smacks himself in the face (sometimes really hard!) and punches us too. But he's also started reaching for things and it seems pretty intentional.

- He's smiling! He definitely recognizes mom & dad and gives great smiles, especially when prompted.

- Still loves looking at stuffed animals and now the staring is very intentional and sometimes brings smiles. He likes his lion, his Pooh blanket, his Silly Monkey blanket, and (for staring) especially his blue elephant blanket. He likes his little hanging bug rattles even more now. One hangs on his stroller and is his primary source of entertainment while at school with mom.  And of course he still loves the "kicky piano" (especially now that he's discovered the mirror). Oh! Speaking of mirrors - sometimes we have to cover the globe mirror at the top of the swing because he gets too distracted to fall asleep.

- Still sleeps just about anywhere but definitely has preferences and "asks" to be moved if he's not comfy. Still sleeps through most noises but definitely wakes up more easily than last month.

- Finally in 0-3 month clothes and cloth diapers! In fact we made the full switch to cloth on his 2-month birthday.

- Sleeping 7-8 hours is a regular thing! Not 100% yet but 4-5 nights a week we get a full night's sleep. The other nights he's only up once and the total sleep for the night will be 8-9 hours.

- No exact "schedule" to our days but a definite routine. He eats, plays, sleeps, repeats. What a life. :-) He eats every 2-3 hours and when he's ready to eat he better get food fast! There's no stretching to 3 hours if he's hungry after 2.

- He's happy to take a bottle and sucks one down every night before bed. He gets them occasionally in the afternoons when mom's at work and he gets daddy time. He doesn't nap very well for dad but otherwise mom at work and dad at home has gone really well. And he regularly goes into school with mom. He's a real trooper & everyone in the school of music loves him (especially the music ed dept of course).

- We very regularly go out to lunch on Saturday and then do grocery shopping/errands. Depending on our timing, he often eats lunch at the same time as me and then we try to finish shopping before he needs to eat again. He's so agreeable and is great eating in public, being in and out of the car and all different stores, in and out of the car seat or wrap carrier. And sometimes we do push his food limits because shopping takes longer than expected and he hangs in as long as he possibly can!

- His 2-month check up was great! Mom cried more than he did at the shots (although he made up for it later in the day). 11lbs 9oz is the 27th percentile, 22.75" is the 32nd percentile, & 15.4" around his head is the 41st percentile.

- Sadly he's his mother's son... He spits up... A lot...

- Mom brought out her viola for the first time this month. Sadly, he cried the first time she practiced... Dad quickly pointed out that it probably had to do with volume though, not tone. :-) He seems to be acclimating to the sound though.

- Mom's favorite nicknames are currently "goober," "handsome," & " booger" and dad's are "people pooper," "Mr. Toots," "my little guy," & "señor burrito" (while swaddled at night).
